1. The language of art
A line is an identifiable path created by a point moving in space. It is one-dimensional and can vary in width, direction, and length. Lines often define the edges of a form. Form is a three-dimensional geometrical figure (i.e.: sphere, cube, cylinder, cone, etc.), as opposed to a shape, which is two-dimensional, or flat. A shape can be geometric or organic, which means it is created by nature. Shapes also can be positive and negative. A positive shape is the one formed by the object itself. Texture is the physical feel of something — smooth, rough, fuzzy, slimy, and lots of textures something in between. Texture has to do with how an object feels and it’s ingredients.
