A line is an identifiable path created by a point moving in space. It is one-dimensional and can vary in width, direction, and length. Lines often define the edges of a form. Lines can be horizontal, vertical, or diagonal, straight or curved, thick or thin.

What is the Definition of Form?

Form is a three-dimensional geometrical figure (i.e.: sphere, cube, cylinder, cone, etc.), as opposed to a shape, which is two-dimensional, or flat. Form, in art, means the whole of a piece’s visible elements and the way those elements are united.

What is the Definition of Shape?

A shape can be geometric or organic, which means it is created by nature. Shapes also can be positive and negative. A positive shape is the one formed by the object itself. The one formed by the space around the object is the negateve shape.

What is the Definition of Texture?

Texture is the physical feel of something — smooth, rough, fuzzy, slimy, and lots of textures something in between. Texture has to do with how an object feels and it’s ingredients. For example, Texture in clothes: a cotton shirt has a different texture than a polyester shirt.
